WQED Film Academy is a youth education program in digital media arts and filmmaking. The Academy is open to 9th graders through 12th graders.
Students who successfully complete the program are eligible to apply for a next-level internship opportunity with Film Academy's Teen Film Crew. Upon successful completion of their internship, they may then be invited to apply for a part-time job with the Teen Film Crew where they get paid to produce promotional videos for clients and content for our web series: "The Reel Teens: Pittsburgh." Due to labor laws, students must be 16 to receive a paid position. COST TO ATTEND ONLY APPLIES TO A STUDENTS' FIRST SEMESTER WITH FILM ACADEMY.
The cost of the program is $2,100 per student. Financial assistance and full scholarships are available due to the generous support from foundations and the Pittsburgh community. A $100 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration to secure a spot. Financial assistance recipients are NOT required to provide a deposit, but confirmation via email or phone is necessary to claim the spot. The deposit will go towards the remaining balance that is due at the start of the session. Payment plans are available.
